It was a beautiful day in Calgary and the kids finally made some good use of the rink I built for them!
As a first try the rink is not too bad. But we're having trouble getting water to stay in one end. Yes, the ground is not even, but I think there might be a hole in the tarp too. Yech. So the ice is pretty thin at one end, but the kdis had fun anyway!
Somebody took some time to build some very fun skating areas on the lake at carburn park. There were several smaller rinks, plus a number of trails that twisted and turned all around and were great fun to explore. We all had a great time on a beautifully sunny winter afternoon.
We too the kids skating and sledding at the outdoor rink at the Riverbend Community Center. It has been very cold lately so the rink is in pretty good shape. We actually got to use the full hockey rink (rather than the much smaller skating are outside the main ring) because nobody was there yet playing hockey. We don't actually have any skates small enough to fit Andrew yet, so he was "skating" with his boots on. He ran and fell and ran and ran and fell and had a great time!
