While in the Ottawa area we took an afternoon to visit Louise's cousin Ed's dairy farm. This was the kids first experience at a real live working farm. Ed has around 55 dairy cows in production and quite a few more in the corral resting or calving. They also have a small herd of calves at various stages of growth and a whole flock of chickens producing eggs. And cats. Lots of cats in the barn! While in Ottawa this past week we went for a walk at the Arboretum which is a very beautiful park. It was a perfect day to be out for a walk and the colors in the park were fabulous. There is also a pretty amazing hill that the kids decided they should roll down. And again. And again. Another great way to blow off some steam!
While at the Cottage Uncle Wayne took us for a tour of the Shaw Woods Outdoor Education Centre. Shaw Woods is a beautiful old growth forest that has an abundance of wildlife and plant growth. Wayne volunteers as a tour guide and had plenty of things to show us as we wandered along the trails.
