While in Ottawa this past week we went for a walk at the Arboretum which is a very beautiful park. It was a perfect day to be out for a walk and the colors in the park were fabulous. There is also a pretty amazing hill that the kids decided they should roll down. And again. And again. Another great way to blow off some steam!
Hiking the Wilcox Pass TrailWe stopped at Wilcox Pass to go for a hike while on the way home from a family camping trip to Jasper National Park. Wilcox Pass is a very accessible hike, and therefore very popular, but it is definitely not easy. The reward is worth the work though and the views from the plateau are indescribably beautiful.
Boys weekend. The girls went to Guide camp in Banff so Andrew and I were on our own. It was the first time that we've gone camping with just the two of us, and it was Pepper's first camping trip too. We actually ended up in the same campground as the girls, but Andrew didn't know it and we never saw them. There are really very few choices in the mountain parks for campgrounds that are open so early in the year. One day way back in the spring I took the kids for an early morning drive to watch the setting of the moon at sunrise. I often have bad luck when setting out for this kind of a trip but on this day we were treated to a glorious pink sunrise.
