Annual Phillips-Knobel Family Portrait We took a trip out on to the prairies east of Calgary today to create our own family portrait for this years Christmas Card. I didn't have a firm idea in mind other than I wanted to do something on the prairie, maybe making use of a big bale of hay, an old barn, or a grain bin. Something like that anyway. Simply Sunday: Fall

Fall Portraits at Prince's Island Park It was a beautiful day in Calgary and we decided to go for a walk at Prince's Island Park. I was hoping to make a nice portrait of the kids while we were there, but I was not expecting the early onset of fall colors and even the fallen leaves on the ground. My family and I went to Kananaskis to go looking for Wild Strawberries. I mean to go hiking. No, really it was to look for berries! We hiked the Chester Lake Trail in August last year and found Strawberries in abundant supply all along both sides of the trail and we had big hopes that we would do so again on this trip. Andrew and I had a great day working on the garden today. I built some garden boxes in my backyard last weekend and they needed to be filled with soil... We started off by going to the Truck Store (U-Haul) to rent a pickup truck. We've never owned a pickup so this was very exciting for Andrew! We then went to the Dirt Store (the BURNCO Landscape Centre) to get a load of garden soil.
