Late Summer Vacation

We were fortunate to be able to take a summer vacation in late August this year and we took the opportunity to take a drive through Western Canada to see my sister Heidi and her family in 100 Mile House, BC. Yes, it's actually called that, and it was named because it was located 100 Miles from Lillooet, BC, which was Mile 0 of the Cariboo Wagon Road.  That's even funnier since Lillooet is at least 100 Miles from Nowhere!!!It was a pretty relaxing trip and Melanie and Andrew got to hang out with their cousin Hannah and her brand new baby … Continue Reading ››

It has been snowing all day today and nobody really wanted to venture outside, so I got out my lighting gear and went to work instead. There was some beautiful light coming in through the window in the living room that I wanted to take advantage of, so I set up one light on a stand and balanced it against the window light from the opposite side.Everybody got in on the action and I got some nice shots of everybody, even Fergus!

Rocketship Park

Melanie and Fergus wanted to go for a walk (well Melanie actually wanted to ride her bike) so we went to the park while Louise stayed home with Andrew. The park has a massive play structure with a spaceship, and so we have always called it the Rocketship Park!I've been wanting to play with my off-camera flash gear for awhile, so I brought that along too and snapped off a whole bunch of pictures of Melanie playing. Some of them look really good and I'll be using this technique more!
