Camping at Glacier National Park

We took a family vacation to Glacier National Park in Montana last weekend. The park is incredibly beautiful and we had some really stunning views and some nice hikes. It's a really windy place though and we would have enjoyed a little bit nicer weather. The kids had great fun and it was really nice to get away! I had lots of fun doing some landscape and nature photography. It's been a long time since I've taken the time to do it and it felt really good. I was actually pretty rusty though … Continue Reading ››

Eddy the Eagle

So this isn't actually directly family related, but it was a lot of fun to make and I like it, so I thought I would share it here anyway... I made this after a skiing trip to Lake Louise with my buddy Eddy on Friday. Eddy's a great skier and we have a great time bombing all over the mountain together. It was an amazing day of blue skies, warm weather, and there was still some fresh powder to be found (if you know where to look)! This video honestly doesn't do a great job of … Continue Reading ››

Movember – Join the Fight Against Prostate Cancer

Self PortraitI have decided to join a global movement that is bringing much needed attention to prostate cancer. I’m doing this by growing a Moustache this Movember, the month formerly known as November. My commitment is to grow a moustache all November and I am hoping that you will support my efforts by making a donation. The funds raised go directly to Prostate Cancer Canada. What many people don’t know is that 1 in 6 men will be diagnosed with prostate cancer in their lifetime. Prostate cancer is the most common cancer to afflict Canadian men with 25,500 … Continue Reading ››

Flashback to May – Weekend in the Mountains

We went for a family weekend in Lake Louise and kicked it off by having a picnic lunch and going hiking in Banff on the way. We had lunch at the end of the parkway at Vermillion Lake with a nice view of Mt. Rundle in the background and a posse of Columbian Ground Squirrels nearby, and then we went for a short hike up Silvertip Creek to Silverton Falls.  This trail is only a few kilometers away from Johnston Canyon, but it is almost unknown and doesn't see anywhere near the huge crowds that travel to … Continue Reading ››

Total Hard Drive Failure

Total FailureThis will be a much more informative post than I normally write, where the message is more important than the photo. In fact, I only took the photo as an excuse to play with my DIY Macro Studio and my lighting gear. This is important, so pay attention! I recently suffered through that terrible sinking feeling that you only get when you slowly come to the realization that something has gone horribly wrong. Louise went into the office to use our old desktop computer and found only a black screen. Melanie had been playing a game on it … Continue Reading ››
