Yellowstone Vacation — Junior Ranger

Yellowstone Vacation — Hayden Valley and Old Faithful

For our second day in Yellowstone we decided to get up early and hit the highway right away instead of cooking breakfast at the campsite. Horizons

I stopped to take some pictures of a very beautiful sunrise on my way to work this morning, and then this evening a Chinook blew through so I went out to shoot the Calgary skyline at sunset! I've been wanting to get both of these shots for quite awhile but the timing is difficult. The days are so short here in winter and then so long in the summer that it seems like I'm never in the right place at the right time. Everything just fell into place today though...

Alpenglow

I have been wanting to capture the mountains in their full morning glory for quite awhile, but my timing has either been off when I go into the mountains or I am too far away to do them justice. I went skiing last weekend and happened to arrive at the Eastern edge of the mountain parks at just the right time. I pulled over and quickly took these pictures. I wanted a few more with a different perspective and so I was changing lenses when it was suddenly all over as if someone had flipped a switch.
