Yellowstone Vacation — Junior Ranger

This post is not as long as the other ones about our trip to Yellowstone, but it is longer than most. Feel free to jump straight to the bottom to see the photos. But don’t forget to come back later to read the story! On our third full day in Yellowstone we again decided to get up early and hit the highway instead of cooking breakfast. We went back to the gas station to buy breakfast and then headed back down the road to Hayden Valley. The scenic landscape in the valley had been so beautiful the day before, and it was so exciting to see the … Continue Reading ››

Yellowstone Vacation — Hayden Valley and Old Faithful

This is another really long post, so feel free to jump straight to the bottom to see the photos. But don't forget to come back later to read the story! For our second day in Yellowstone we decided to get up early and hit the highway right away instead of cooking breakfast at the campsite. There is a gas station adjacent to the Canyon campground so we went there for fuel: gas, coffee, tea, milk, and cinnamon buns. We wanted to be on the road in the early hours of the morning in order to have the best chance at seeing big game (and of course for … Continue Reading ››

Yellowstone Vacation — Calgary to Yellowstone

I've wanted to visit Yellowstone National Park for years (as long as I can remember really) and Louise and I have often talked about going there. Every time it came up we ended up deciding that it was a little bit too far away and too ambitious a trip. We finally decided to just do it. Uncharacteristically for us, we made the decision little more than a week in advance, … Continue Reading ››

2009 Cottage Vacation

It's been awhile since I updated this blog (again), but I'm not as far behind as it might seem. I've been editing photo's like crazy over the last month and I've actually even been uploading them to the galleries on this site as I go through them. Some of you have even found them and commented about it! But I realize that posting them to the blog makes them much easier to view, so I will be making a new post for each album as well. The commentary will be light, so the images will have to speak for themselves! I will be starting with about 8 … Continue Reading ››

U6 Soccer

Melanie moved up a division in soccer this year, which means that she can play at home in Riverbend instead of having to travel to another community. And I don't have to coach! She plays 2 nights a week, which is a little bit hectic for us, but the team is very organized and they actually play positions. She's having lots of fun and gets to plat with (and against) several of her friends from school and the neighborhood. These pics are from here first game of the season. Andrew came along to the field and was showing off his new walking tricks...
